Jam Chart for Suzy Greenberg (16 entries)

Date City Timing Notes
1987-02-13 Johnson, VT 9:18 Debut. The Dude of Life on vocals. The Dude sounds kind of frustrated and angry in this version.
1990-11-17 Somerville, MA 6:27 Includes a full band "Low Rider" jam and subsequent tease from Trey.
1991-09-27 Rochester, NY 5:12 Great Page and Fish on this rocking version, who briefly drive the ship into out of bounds territory. Timing may be longer due to a cut in the recording.
1995-10-31 Rosemont, IL 7:30 Dave Grippo on alto saxophone, Don Glasgo on trombone, and Joey Sommerville on trumpet. Excellent version with a distinctly bluesy feel to it.
1996-10-31 Atlanta, GA 6:28 Karl Perazzo on percussion, Dave Grippo on saxophone, and Gary Gazaway on trumpet. "Born Under Punches" tease from Page. This excellent version has a completely different feel to it than 10/31/95, despite the similar addition of horns. This one has more of a jazz-like vibe to it, as well as strong percussion.
1996-11-13 Minneapolis, MN 6:35 -> to an excellent, wide ranging "Jam" follows "Suzy" proper. At first a typically rhythmic '96 jam with Trey on the mini percussion set up and Page jumping around different keyboards, it morphs into an upbeat, driving jam, even adding a little psychedelic edge near the ending > to "Prince Caspian."
1996-12-06 Las Vegas, NV 9:17 Guest artists include Les Claypool, Larry LaLonde, Courtney Gains, the Yodeling Cowgirls, and several Elvis impersonators. One of the Elvis impersonators leads a "Susie Q" jam at the end of "Suzy."
1997-02-23 Cortemaggiore, Italy 8:24 "Suzy" gets some funk!
1999-07-25 Noblesville, IN 10:05 Awesome version that Includes a jam based on Stevie Wonder's "I Wish" and a syncopated jam built around Page.
2000-09-14 Darien Center, NY 9:19 The band breaks into a fantastic rhythmic and slightly funky jam after the second verse which continues until 8:00. Following the final verse and customary conclusion, the band continues on, > to "Jam," an awesome "Suzy"-like set closing improv session.
2003-12-28 Miami, FL 5:36 Jarring, near heavy metal-like "Jam" breaks out after the second verse of "Suzy." Gnarly and raw, it eventually mellows into space before transitioning to "Theme From The Bottom."
2004-06-17 Brooklyn, NY 18:23 Multifaceted jam follows the final verse and refrain. At first rhythmic and plucky, it gradually becomes more intense, then grows slightly spacey, and intensifies again before finally settling with a > to "Axilla."
2004-08-11 Mansfield, MA 9:10 Most excellent version with incredible Page action on the B-3 during "Suzy" and great Fish. The band then extends the jam following the final verse with a -> to "DwD."
2009-10-31 Indio, CA 11:37 Sharon Jones and Saundra Williams on backup vocals, and Dave Guy, David Smith, and Tony Jarvis on trumpet, trombone, and saxophone, respectively. Outstanding, stretched out (but otherwise straightforward) version.
2010-08-07 Berkeley, CA 10:42 Band adds a nice 4 plus minute jam to the back end of "Suzy." Trey teases "Living After Midnight." > to "Slave."
2016-09-02 Commerce City, CO 7:27 Some great back and forth between the Chairman of the Boards and Fish and Trey on percussion results in an even more energized than typical version.
